I woke up with about 10 insect bites on my body - big red itchy bumps. Karen doesn't have any. So, today I have decided not to wear the money-belt I've been wearing....but it may have been the bed mites!
We headed first for the Farmer's Market to see a number of ladies in bathrobes handing out flowers (something to do with Mother's day). The Farmer's Market has a load of stalls with fresh produce and other items. We had breakfast there and bought a couple of shirts. Click here to view our photo archive of the Farmer's market.
We took a drive through to Venice Beach. Karen thought it was a run-down area, but I enjoyed the vibe - there are many people skateboarding, cycling, rollerskating and walking down the beach; and stax of flea-market like shops. Click here to view our photo archive of Venice Beach.
We decided to head north to Malibu and its beaches. On the way there we passed the Getty Villa (nice views, but not as nice as the views from Dad's apartment in Dolphin Beach or our plot in Yzerfontein!).

Adamson House Beach was packed with surfers, but its waves were only about a foot high, so it was quite funny too watch (would have probably been even funnier to watch if I was trying to surf!). The water in the pacific ocean at Los Angeles is about the temperature of the water at False Bay, Cape Town....a bit cold for my taste (and Karen's) and we restricted ourselves to dipping our toes in.

As we got around Los Angeles I took a bunch of pictures. Click here to access the archive of random Los Angeles photos.
