Rommel with Karen
Rommel

There is once again a 30% chance of rain today, but we have decided to go to the Gulf coast anyways - we'd rather see a rainy Gulf coast than never see a Gulf coast. I jumped into the back seat to work on the blog while the girls (Karen and Elaina) nattered away up front - I picked up on the occasional word through the radio playing at the back...pap smear...breast cancer...pms...decided to stay out of this conversation.

We arrived at Corpus Christi beach, on the Gulf of Mexico. The highlight is the nice and warm water, which makes swimming a pleasure. Being from Cape Town, we've been spoiled with the best-looking beaches in the world, the beach at Corpus Christi has seaweed along the front of it and tyre tracks from the bulldozer which works at clearing the beach. There was also an oil rig offshore. But we enjoyed being at the ocean and going for a swim. The weather is hot, sultry and hazy....much like Durban in the summer.
