Our holiday in San Antonio, Texas

Friday, 5rd May 2006

I woke up at 0650am, to the sound of a bird tweeting rhythmically and the fan in the room humming (also rhythmically). This time Karen is still asleep.

Elaina showed us some photos of her trip to Victoria Falls...and also some of her surgery photos, including one of a person who's entire pelvic area had been removed by a car crash..... (Dad wasn't lying...cars are lethal weapons!).

Elaina took us through to Lackland Air Force Base and showed us the planes on display there.

In the late afternoon we went through to see "The Alamo", which is the number one tourist attraction in Texas. Click here to see photos of "The Alamo". After seeing the Alamo (which really is just an old building with a lot of history attached to it), we headed off to "The River Walk", which is the number two tourist attraction in Texas (the Johnson Space Centre is the number 3 tourist attraction). Click here for photos of the River Walk. After the River Walk we had supper at Chilli's, where I discovered that there is no such drink as a "Grapetizer" or "Appletizer" in the USA. What was pretty good was the Onion Blossom we had - a cooked onion which is opened up to form lots of "chips" of onions.
